Home & DIY Calculators
Measure twice, buy once — and let the calculator do the arithmetic in between. This section is for the numbers that come up around the house and on projects: the ones where a small mistake means a second trip to the store or a pile of leftover material.
Today you can work out square footage — including awkward L-shaped rooms broken into rectangles, in both square feet and square metres, with an optional material-cost estimate. And because real projects are never perfectly tidy, the tool builds in a waste buffer so you order enough the first time. We're expanding into the classic DIY calculations next: paint coverage, concrete volume, tile counts and flooring, each with the same buy-the-right-amount mindset.
A word from experience baked into every tool here: always add a margin. Off-cuts, breakages and miscuts are normal, so we default to a sensible buffer (around +10%) rather than the bare minimum — running short mid-job costs far more than a little spare.
These calculators are made for homeowners, renters personalising a space, and weekend DIYers alike. Everything runs in your browser, free and without sign-up, and every result can be copied or shared with whoever's holding the other end of the tape measure.
